Pottery Class FAQs

Do I need any experience to take a pottery class?

Not at all. Intro to Wheel Throwing assumes you have never touched clay, and our instructors guide you through every step, from wedging to your first finished piece. If you have thrown before, All Level, Intermediate, and Thrown & Altered classes will meet you where you are.

What's included with my class?

Everything: clay, tools, aprons, glazes, and all kiln firings, plus the option to attend an open studio slot, three hours, one or two times a week during your course. Just show up.

How long are classes and what do they cost?

Classes meet once a week for 6 weeks, 2.5 to 3 hours per session. Intro to Wheel Throwing starts at $385; specialty classes like Intermediate Wheel and Thrown & Altered are $395.

Where is the studio? Is there parking?

Claya is at 3440 Walnut Street in Denver's RiNo Arts District, between 34th and 35th. Street parking is available on Walnut and the surrounding blocks, and the 38th & Blake A-Line station is a short walk away.

When can I sign up?

Claya is opening in 2026, and enrollment opens soon. Click "Join the launch list" on any class to be first in line when registration goes live.

What's the difference between a class and a membership?

Classes are guided, with an instructor at your side each week. Membership is for potters ready to work independently, with ongoing studio access and shelf space. Many students move into membership after their first 6-week class.
